Bauma 2007: new three-axle LTM 1050-3.1 mobile crane

The new LTM 1050-3.1 Liebherr mobile crane, which Liebherr is presenting to the public for the first time at Bauma 2007, is the successor model to the LTM 1045-3.1, of which almost 500 units have been built since 2002. The telescopic boom on the new 50-tonner has been extended by 4 m compared with the previous model to 38 m. At the same time, the load capacities have been increased by an average 12%. With its 16-m biparted swing-away jib, the LTM 1050-3.1 achieves a hook height of 54 m.

The new 3-axle crane is driven by a Liebherr six-cylinder in-line engine, which produces an output of 270 kW / 367 hp at 2,000 rpm and a torque of 1,720 Nm at 1,300 rpm. The engine meets all the necessary emissions requirements of the new guidelines, complying with Stage III / Tier III. The ZF 12-speed AS-TRONIC gearbox with automatic shifting and dry clutch is particularly fuel-efficient and by extension very economical to operate. The two-step transfer case also enables minimal creeping speeds as low as 0.55 km/h. This is necessary for delicate manoeuvring work.
