On January 15, 2020, Liebherr celebrated the foundation of its new Headquarter Project of Liebherr (China) Co., Ltd. in the Free Trade Zone Waigaoqiao in Shanghai.

The Liebherr (China) Co., Ltd. Headquarter Project is located in the western part of the south block of Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone and covers an investment of nearly 300 million Yuan. On a construction area of 20,000 sqm, an area of 17,400 sqm meters will be covered with a building structure of five floors above ground and one basement. The building will be home of headquarter offices, testing, technical support, customer service, spare parts, etc. The facility will provide complete solutions for R & D testing, as well as maintenance of mechanical equipment and is expected to go into operation in 2021.

The project is expected to be finished in 2021.
Based on the policy and institutional advantages of the bonded area, Liebherr will further enrich its business content and integrate comprehensive operations such as trade to capital management, R&D testing, technical support, training, maintenance as well as other services to better expand Liebherr activities and capabilities into domestic and foreign markets .
This new facility will also offer the opportunity to host the final assembly of fuel cell compressors for high volume Chinese automotive customers.
