Delivering the first Liebherr mining excavator to Eastern Canada

In early January this year, Liebherr-Canada handed over an R 9150 mining excavator to new customer L. Fournier & Fils – a leading general contractor in Canada that works in the industrial, civil, and mining sectors. This R 9150 is the first Liebherr excavator commissioned in Eastern Canada and will go to work in the Abitibi-Temiskaming region at the North American Lithium operation, which is part of the largest spodumene – lithium ore – reserve in North America. Fortescue receives first T 264 haul trucks

In October, Liebherr Mining delivered the first T 264 haul truck to Fortescue’s Eliwana mine site in the Pilbara, Western Australia. These trucks form part of a deal for 120 zero emission T 264 trucks to be deployed to Fortescue by 2030. The initial delivered units will be diesel powered and converted to Fortescue’s in-house battery solution – developed by Fortescue WAE – before the end of the decade. Find out more

Restored, not retired: Liebherr R 996 mining excavator overhauled for maximum service life

In late July, a fully refurbished R 996 excavator went to work at Yancoal’s Cameby Downs mine in Queensland, Australia. This machine had originally served at Yancoal’s Yarrabee mine for almost 13 years before the mining company made the decision to completely overhaul the machine. Find out more

Working with Liebherr Mining: an electrifying experience

Since the launch of its Zero Emission Mining Program in 2021, Liebherr Mining has embarked on a number of projects that explore how the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) can help to reduce emissions. One of these projects investigates different types of alternate energy sources that can be used in Liebherr’s mining equipment. To ensure that Liebherr Mining has the most suitable people working on this project, the product segment recruited a variety of very qualified employees into the roles needed to make the project a success. One such recruit was Kareem Oubid, a high voltage (HV) electrician currently working with Liebherr-Australia in Western Australia to support and maintain electric-drive mining equipment. Remanufacturing at Liebherr Mining: commitment to the future

The Liebherr Mining Reman Program guarantees added value for both customers and for the environment. Remanufacturing, also known as “reman”, is the one of the most cost-effective choices for customers as the process uses the valuable resources of a used component to restore that component to as-new quality. Because remanufacturing uses fewer resources to produce components than building them from scratch, this program also significantly reduces the greenhouse gases emitted and the number of raw materials needed to replace used components. As such, Liebherr chooses to remanufacture components whenever possible and desired by customers. Find out more

Karunia adds two more R 9200s to its fleet at Tabang mine in Indonesia

In March, PT Liebherr Indonesia Perkasa (Liebherr Indonesia) completed the assembly and commission of two 200 t mining excavators for PT Karunia Armada Indonesia (Karunia) – a mining contractor headquartered in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
