Since the start of 2014 an LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane has been performing superbly in Peru in very difficult conditions. The new crane is operating in a copper-zinc mine in the Andes almost 5,000 metres above sea level. Gruas Alquileres S.A., the owner of the Liebherr crane is very satisfied with its investment: The LTR 1220 handles the conditions with ease. It is the first crane of this type in Latin America.

The LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane with a maximum load capacity of 220 tonnes is used for unloading the components of two electrical mining excavators and assembling them. With its powerful hydraulic telescopic boom and crawler gear which can handle the most difficult terrain, the LTR 1220 from Liebherr is the perfect crane for this type of work as it provides excellent load capacities, short setup times, great manoeuvrability and can travel with full load.

The difficult conditions in the Peruvian Andes at an altitude of almost 5,000 metres and extreme temperature fluctuations are no problem for the 220-tonne model. Gruas Alquileres confirms that the LTR 1220 carries out its hoisting work extremely efficiently and safely. The customer Joy Global Peru SAC, the company which has the LTR 1220 on long term hire from Gruas Alquileres S.A. is also delighted with the crane.
