Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS, Toulouse (France), has recently received the funding for two R&T (research and technology) projects accredited by the French cluster Aerospace Valley. The projects are supported by the FUI, a French interdepartmental fund dedicated to the funding of collaborative research and development projects at a national level. The FUI selected 68 projects from a total of 128 proposals, two of which will be coordinated by Liebherr-Aerospace.

In the project “New Generation Turbomachine (NGTURB)”, the objectives are to improve the reliability of motorized high-performance turbomachines as well as optimize their weight and operating cost. The project ACAPULCO (“AppliCAtion composites thermoPlastiques pour pièces à doUbLe Courbure”) is dedicated to the development of complex thermoplastic parts, such as heat exchanger headers or air pipes, and aims to reduce the weight of the aircraft. Both projects will run until the end of 2018.

The Aerospace Valley cluster based in Toulouse. Created in 2005, the organization is to increase the competitiveness of the Midi-Pyrénées and Aquitaine regions’ Aeronautics, Space, and Embedded Systems sectors at a national, European and international level.
