400-tonne “narrow-track” crawler crane for wind-power farms
For crawler crane applications in which travel with attach-ments in position is particularly important, Liebherr is exhib-iting the LR 1400/2-W at this year’s ‘Bauma’. It has a 4.8 m wide crawler chassis and 11.5 m wide star-pattern supports. This narrow-track version complies with the need for efficient lifting devices to construct winddriven turbines at windpower farms. During travel movements, the supports with their plates attached are folded against the chassis at the front and the rear. Slopes of up to 2 degrees are compensated for by four hydraulic rams on the chassis. Two slewing connections allow the chassis, the intermediate section with the supports and the crane superstructure to be repositioned in relation to one other as required, so that the crawler crane can also negotiate very tight corners. The exceptional mobil-ity of the LR 1400/2-W is fully maintained even when the op-tional derrick jib is in use.
