Responsibility for the environment is a high priority at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH. This responsibility is reflected in our products. For example: In 1994 Liebherr was the first company to introduce a gear hobbing machine for dry cutting (no use of coolant). For all activities in our company, from design to purchasing to production and disposal, the environment is an important consideration.

2 Environmental policy

A consistently practiced environmental policy requires the overall consideration of the effects that our products and the manufacturing have on the natural environment.Caring for and protecting the environment is an important section of our company policy. Our environmental conduct is based on the following principles:

2.1 Environmental goals and programs

We strive to have active environmental preservation practices for all company functions.For this purpose, we set goals and establish programs to achieve our goals.

Primary goals in our company are:

• Thoughtful use of resources
• Reduction of emissions
• Protection of ground/water/air

2.2 Continuous improvement in environmental areas

The continuous improvement of environmental issues is the responsibility of all our employees. Our business partners are also involved in this process.

• We see it as our task to develop and improve our products and technologies under environmental aspects.
• Our infrastructure and processes are continuously optimized to achieve our high environmental targets.
• We work very closely with our suppliers for continuous improvements in environmental areas. This allows as to realize the full potential of environmental advancements already in the planning state of products.

• Our customers are already in the order clarification involved in the process, to include their additional requirements for an environmentally acceptable product.

InThe total sum of environmental achievements in our facility is continuously increasing the value of our products.

2.3 Observation of the relevant legal regulations

The observance of laws and governmental regulations is without question. For issues regarding environmental protection, Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH is working in close cooperation with the responsible organizations and technical institutions.

2.4 Open Information Policy

We openly inform our employees, customers and partners about our environmental policy. With this open information policy, we strive to expand the environmental awareness and responsiveness in our own company and also strengthen the reputation of Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH as a multi-faceted and responsible company.

3 Organization

Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH has established an environmental management policy and has received the DIN EN ISO 14001 certification. With the integration of the environmental management policy into the QM-system, we emphasize that quality and the environment are inherently connected. We demonstrate that these two factors are both crucially important in our company.
