Liebherr-Aerospace receives order for Eurocpoter’s X4 helicopter main rotor actuators

The world’s primary helicopter manufacturer, Eurocopter, and Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, Lindenberg (Germany), have signed a contract for the main rotor actuators of the latest generation X4 helicopter program. The cooperation ceremony was held at the Liebherr booth during ILA Berlin Air Show on September 11, 2012.

Liebherr-Aerospace will design, develop, qualify, produce and service the main rotor actuators − lightweight, high-reliability flight control components. Installed in the main rotor, three actuators will adjust the angle of the pales, thus playing an essential role in the control of the helicopter’s flight. They will incorporate Liebherr’s latest innovations in the field of hydraulic flight control systems and components. Moreover, the main rotor actuators will feature environmentally friendly materials, and contribute to weight reduction and optimization of operating costs.

The X4 is the first member of Eurocopter’s next generation helicopter family. It will feature the latest innovations in commercial helicopter technology, offering substantial improvements in fuel consumption and noise emissions.

Liebherr supplies key flight control, landing gear and air management systems or components for almost all of Eurocopter`s helicopter families. The new contract is therefore a further step in the long-standing partnership between Eurocopter and Liebherr-Aerospace.
