Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS, Liebherr’s center of excellence for aerospace air management systems, held the opening ceremony of its new test and development center on September 23rd, 2011
The new test center features exceptional facilities spread over 5,600 square meters and will substantially expand Liebherr’s capability of simulating the operating conditions of its airborne systems, like for example engine temperature and pressure, or acoustic environment. It will allow to conduct full-scale as well as digital model testing, in particular with respect to research and technology work related to future aircraft like vibrations, reduction of cabin noise or more electric aircraft. These latest generation test facilities will significantly contribute to reducing development cost and optimizing performance of future air management systems.
The new test center accounts for a 27 Million Euro investment, part of which is borne by French Gvt. and the Region of Midi-Pyrénées. The test center is progressively entering into operation throughout the year 2011.
The test center’s environmental footprint has been subject to a particular attention during its design and construction phases. Key parameters such as energy consumption, water consumption and noise emissions show considerable reductions compared with former test facilities.
