Electrically Controlled Dampers
The damper serves for controlling the damping power according to various operational conditions. Integrated sensor systems make it possible to continuously monitor the pre-selected damping values. Should the power supply to electronics fail, the smallest damping is provided by default so the devices always operate in totally fail safe mode.
Active Dampers
Liebherr developed and constructed an active damper that connects the functions of torsion dampers with the function of an actuator. This construction element is already in operations in the Siemens locomotives, where it reduces the torsion forces acting on the wheels when running through curves. Due to the extremely compact manner of construction, it is possible to additionally equip existing vehicles with these Dampers to improve performance.
