Liebherr supplies all the types of dampers for railway vehicles, starting with simple vertical dampers through Horizontal dampers to torsion and vibration dampers. The innovative designs represent unique solutions. The various systems can be supplied with an inbuilt monitoring system for simplified maintenance and diagnosis.
Liebherr is the market and technology leader in the field of Special Dampers. The company develops and delivers these systems according to customer specific applications. The available performance spectrum includes, for example, monitored damping systems, dampers with electrically switchable damping characteristics, dampers with damping characteristics depending on the route, and dampers with high hydraulic stiffness. Qualified personnel is available to support our customers in solving their technical problems on request; the personnel can analyze the specific requirements of any application and propose standard or tailormade solutions
Electrically Controlled Dampers
The damper serves for controlling the damping power according to various operational conditions. Integrated sensor systems make it possible to continuously monitor the pre-selected damping values. Should the power supply to electronics fail, the smallest damping is provided by default so the devices always operate in totally fail safe mode.
Liebherr developed and constructed an active damper that connects the functions of torsion dampers with the function of an actuator. This construction element is already in operations in the Siemens locomotives, where it reduces the torsion forces acting on the wheels when running through curves. Due to the extremely compact manner of construction, it is possible to additionally equip existing vehicles with these Dampers to improve performance.
